Lake Atitlan Guatemala is a beautiful place to live.
An apartment near San Marcos was my second home during my time in Lake Atitlan. After 6 wonderful weeks housesitting in San Pedro I took a ferry across the lake to Pasajcap.
Pasajcap is extraordinary. A variety of apartments and cottages spreading up the hill and surrounded by trees and a beautiful garden.
The view from my apartment was stunning. It made leaving my new home to go exploring tough as I had to tear myself away from the view!
Yet when I stepped outside I was surrounded by nature in all her glory . . .
As well as the hammock inside my apartment, there are plenty of hammocks scattered through the garden and on private roof terraces.
I’ve come to love spending time hanging out in the hammocks, perfect for an afternoon of book reading.
Pasajcap is a 15 minute walk along a dirt road to the nearest village of San Marcos. You can also catch a tuk tuk for 10-15Q.
If you are thinking of coming to visit Lake Aitilan Guatemala this is a stunning place to stay. I really didn’t want to leave!
- If you are looking for accommodation around the lake then take a look at these two Facebook Groups – San Marcos Atitlan Community and Panajachel, Lake Atitlan, Guatemala
- Always make sure you have small notes. Some places won’t be able to change a 100Q note. You can change money at the banks in San Pedro or Panajachel and most of the tiendas will be able to change notes once you’ve purchased something.
