Recently, I was fortunate enough to volunteer at the Care For Dogs shelter in Chiang Mai, Northern Thailand for 6 weeks. Although I’ve already written about the experience I thought that the dogs deserved another post as they are constantly on my mind. So here are what those wonderful creatures taught me:

  1. Play!

    A rough kind of play!

  2. Naps are good (the phrase let sleeping dogs lie” now makes complete sense to me. Those guys can be grumpy when they wake up!)

    Time for a nap

  3. Trust completely

  4. Play! It’s worth repeating as I do take life too seriously sometimes

Who left this great toy for me?

  5. Love fully (they will know you a short time and love you forever)

  6. Set boundaries (let others know when they are in your space)

  7. Forgive easily (even when they had been let down in the worse possible ways these dogs still forgave humans their mistakes and open themselves up again)

  8. Walks are fantastic (there is so much happiness to be had from a simple walk if you look around. And smell everything!)

    Taste everything too!
